What we stand on
We believe Jesus Christ is Lord. That shapes the way we work.
Faith is not here as a marketing angle or a reason someone should purchase from us. We understand that not everyone who visits Tabor&Vine will share what we believe, and we do not expect them to. We simply do not want to separate our convictions from the way we conduct our business.
That means trying to be truthful about what we sell, fair in the way we price it, careful with the promises we make, and patient with the people we serve.
We are also human. We will make mistakes.
The standards on this page are not a claim that we will execute everything perfectly. They are the principles we are trying to follow. Because we take them seriously, we try to give extra care to the details and respond honestly when something does not go as it should.
Our goal is simple: conduct Tabor&Vine in a way that is consistent with the faith we profess.
01
Faith, then conduct
We answer ultimately to Christ, and we believe that should affect the ordinary decisions we make in business.
For us, that means trying to speak truthfully, keep our word, treat people with patience, and resist the temptation to put a sale ahead of what is right.
Most of that does not look dramatic. It looks like checking the product information again, answering the difficult email, admitting when we do not know something, and giving the customer the same consideration we would hope to receive ourselves.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
Colossians 3:23 ESV
02
The truth about the product
We want our product pages to give you an honest picture of what you are buying.
Many technical specifications, measurements and similar details are provided to us by manufacturers or suppliers. Unless we specifically state otherwise, claims such as weight capacity, long-term durability, material performance and ergonomic performance have not been independently tested by Tabor&Vine, and we will not word a page to suggest that we tested them ourselves.
We try to review the information carefully before publishing it, but errors can happen. If we discover that something is inaccurate, our goal is to correct it rather than leave information in place simply because it may help make a sale.
Where we are uncertain, we would rather be careful with our words than make a stronger claim than the information supports.
“Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor.”
Ephesians 4:25 ESV
03
Fair pricing, strong value
Part of why we started Tabor&Vine was simple: we wanted to make good workspace furniture available at more accessible prices. We work hard to find products we believe offer strong value, and to price them competitively within the market.
We are comfortable earning a reasonable profit. The goal is not to eliminate profit — it is to build a sustainable company without depending on misleading discounts or artificial urgency.
Where we show a Comparable retail price, it is based on prices we have found for the same item, or for products we believe are reasonably comparable. When the exact item is available elsewhere, we prefer that comparison. When it is not, we may reference products with similar characteristics, construction, features, style or intended use. Those figures are not necessarily previous Tabor&Vine prices, and they do not mean an item is on sale.
We do not guarantee that we will always have the lowest price available, because retailers, promotions and market prices change. What we can do is work hard to offer strong value for the furniture we sell, and be honest about how we present that value.
A customer should be able to look at a price without being manipulated into a decision: a real product, a clearly stated price, and enough honest information to decide whether it makes sense for you.
“A false balance is an abomination to the LORD, but a just weight is his delight.”
Proverbs 11:1 ESV
04
A neighbor, not just an order
There is an order number on the screen, but there is a person behind it. We try to remember that.
Our aim is to communicate patiently, answer questions as clearly as we can and avoid pressuring someone into purchasing something that is not right for them.
Sometimes we may need time to find the right answer. Sometimes we may misunderstand something. Sometimes a situation will not go as smoothly as either of us hoped.
What matters to us is approaching those situations with honesty, patience and reasonable care.
“And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”
Luke 6:31 ESV
05
We are small, and we are comfortable saying so
Tabor&Vine is a small workspace-furniture retailer.
We source furniture from third-party manufacturers and suppliers. Unless a product page specifically says otherwise, we do not manufacture or design the products ourselves.
Some of the rooms and environments shown throughout our website may also be digitally composed to help demonstrate how a product could look in a finished space. They should not be understood as photographs of Tabor&Vine showrooms, warehouses or facilities unless clearly identified as such.
We do not believe we need to appear larger than we are. Our job is to be clear about what we do, take care with the part of the process entrusted to us and continue improving as the company grows.
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.”
Philippians 2:3 ESV
06
When something goes wrong
No business gets everything right all of the time, and we do not expect to be an exception.
A listing may contain an error. Communication may take longer than it should. A supplier may provide incorrect information. A shipment may go wrong. We may simply make a mistake.
Our commitment is not that mistakes will never happen. Our commitment is to take reasonable care to prevent them, be straightforward when we discover them and work toward a fair resolution when something within our responsibility has gone wrong.
We do not believe humility means pretending to be perfect. It means being willing to recognize when something needs to be corrected and doing our best to handle it properly.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:39 ESV
In practice
What this rules out.
The oldest trick in trade is a weighted scale. The modern versions are quieter, and they are the ones we have decided not to use.
No manufactured urgency
No countdown timers, no invented deadlines, no “selling fast” language written to hurry you.
No invented reference prices
A Comparable retail figure is a market reference, not a former Tabor&Vine price dressed up as a discount. We do not strike prices through, show invented savings or percentages, or run a permanent sale.
No manufactured scarcity
We do not display stock counts or use how many are left to press you toward a decision. A page will tell you whether something is available, and nothing more.
Only genuine reviews
Every review on our site was written by someone who has used the product. We do not write them, buy them or edit them, and we do not present them as anything other than what they are.
No borrowed credentials
No claims of exclusivity, awards, certifications, testing or partnerships we do not actually hold.
No superlatives we cannot prove
We will describe what a piece is and what it costs. We will not tell you it is the best on the market.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
Matthew 6:9–13 ESV
hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
We keep it here because it names who we answer to, and because asking to be forgiven our debts is difficult to square with taking advantage of yours. It is a standard for our conduct, not a line to sell furniture with.
How an order is handled
Every order is read by a person.
Some of this is automated, because it should be — you want your confirmation email immediately and your tracking the moment it exists. The judgement is not. A person opens each order, checks the details and the address, and places it. If something looks wrong, we would rather contact you before anything ships than after.
If you write to ecommerce@luminaryfirm.com, a person reads it and replies. We hold ourselves to that. If it ever stops being true — if we start answering with automation — we will change this page rather than quietly leave the promise standing.
We are a small operation and we do not pretend otherwise. Delivery times depend on the manufacturer and the carrier, so we will not promise you speed we do not control. What we can offer is attention: that someone here knows about your order, and that a question gets a straight answer, including when the answer is one you would rather not hear.
The standard we aim for
Not because it makes us better than anyone else.
We do not put these words here because we think running a Christian-owned company makes us better than anyone else. It does not. We put them here because our faith should mean something when Monday morning comes, an order needs attention, a customer has a problem, or a decision has to be made between what is easier and what is right.
We will not always handle every situation perfectly. We are building, learning and improving as we go. But we want to take extra care, because the way we conduct ourselves matters to us.
- To tell the truth.
- To deal fairly.
- To serve with humility.
- To treat people with patience.
- And to remember who we ultimately answer to.
